AFTER:  Our remedy was to allow for ample transition space by pouring a wider two-tiered concrete slab and installing a tile with good traction.

BEFORE: The homeowner disliked the abrupt and shallow brick landing that greeted guests exiting the front door.

The tile was installed to mimic a carpet with a band of green granite tile banding between the edge tile and the diagonal field tile. We interspersed contrasting squares at alternate intersections of the diagonals.

In this example we took a concrete walkway with a porch light and transitioned it into a grand entryway. We installed wall mounted lanterns on the portico columns and then wired complementary lamps onto pedestals we fabricated at the end of the walk. The pedestals are clad with matching stonework.
